C O C O O N is from my 2020 limited collection based on the them of earth and fragility. 

   At the beginning of lockdown I nestled deeply back into my creative world after leaving a job that was taking all of my creative time away.  This was a period of huge relief and reconnection to my making.

  This piece represents a returning to self, a time of remaking, a time of stillness, a slower pace of living which allowed us all to take a collective deep breath. We all cocooned in our homes adjusting to this new reality, transitioning through this crazy period of time.

   I collected the terracotta clay from the local Coromandel hills in autumn spending the next two months bringing these beads to life, using a stoneware clay.
